The Checkerboard

A very specific set of youth imperatives lead to a very specific design solution. Through intensive participatory design, the potentially conflicting needs of a community of youth are articulated clearly, allowing the design team to craft a sensitive response. 

This same approach for identifying, articulating and responding to very specific youth needs applies to the design of all types of youth community spaces, including outdoor public spaces.
